ARTIST STATEMENT
Luscious and luminous radishes picked fresh from the glass garden. A Bumper Crop are taken from my latest body of experimental work in hot sculpted glass. These are my favourite pieces to date.
BIOGRAPHY
Amanda Dziedzic is a Melbourne based glass practitioner. She works predominantly in hot glass and makes both production and exhibition works. She has also travelled extensively in pursuit of her glass. Amanda has undertaken a residency in Scotland at Northlands Creative Glass, a research residency in to Ikebana in Tokyo Japan and studied at Pilchuck in Seattle. Amanda has a love for the natural world and takes direct inspiration to create her works. She also has a wicked sense of humour and a laugh that echo’s for days. Her works are created with a light heart and are received with a smile. Trained at JamFactory in Adelaide, Amanda works as a production blower to create numerous production lines which she supplies nation wide. Currently her most popular ranges are Yumemiru which are works based on her time spent in Japan, and the Display Domes. The Display Domes were launched as collaboration with The Design Files for the 2013 Design Files Open House and have been in high demand since. Amanda also enjoys collaborating and working with other well know Australian designers. These include gaffing lighting for Jardan furniture, producing a range for Dinosaur Designs and in 2014 Amanda worked together with Australian fashion label Gorman to create a limited edition of blown glass home wares. Currently Amanda works from a shared space studio with twelve other artists in Brunswick as one of the founding members.
Dziedzic holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Glass from Monash University, Melbourne and a Bachelor of Visual Arts from the University of South Australia. Exhibitions include but are not limited to States of Illumination (2014, AusGlass Conference Show, Worth Gallery, Adelaide, SA); Supermarket (2014, Craft Victoria, Melbourne, VIC), Artisans in the Garden (2013 Sydney Royal Botanic Gardens, Sydney, NSW); Room For Growth (2011, Prospect Gallery, SA); The Glass Garden (2010, JamFactory Contemporary and Design, Adelaide, SA).
